Zones 33-34

End polio now
As of 25 May, Rotarians have raised about $127.4 million for Rotary's $200 Million Challenge. These contributions will help Rotary raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children.

Dear Rotarians:

We have come to the end. It has been an honor and pleasure to have represented Zones 33 and 34 as your Director for the past two years, and as Vice-President of Rotary International. As has been said, all good things must come to an end.

However, better things are coming with our new Director John Smarge, who adds new direction, vigor and new ideas. I am so pleased that John will be my successor, as he will be excellent.

Let all of you know that the most pleasurable thing about being your Director is in meeting so many wonderful Rotarians in our part of the world, It has been a treat for Linda and me. And as coach John Wooden of UCLA fame said, "The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team," and John Smarge has a great team.

With such great talent, how can we fail...God Bless and best wishes...to all...especially my team....
